Employment Opportunity
Tight Lines Fly Fishing has an immediate, hot opening for a Shop Manager.
Tight Lines Fly Fishing has earned the distinction of one of the top fly shops in the country. We have worked hard to redefine the term “full service fly shop”. We are deep in fly tying, lines, terminal tackle, flies, rod and reel inventory across every species and in both single hand and spey casting. We are also deep in the value we offer to the customer and place top priority on serving our customer by satisfying their fly fishing needs.
Some of the specific responsibilities of the manager include: Managing the store employees and actively participating with customers. Oversee and direct merchandising, cleaning and stocking to make sure the store is always looking its best. Assist in updating fishing reports, social media platforms, and blog. Assist with ordering, pre-seasons, new products, scheduling of orders and updating the website with products. All days require the team leader to have a self-driven work ethic. Common characteristics of our successful fly shop candidate include enthusiasm, initiative and the ability to work independently, facilitate others and plan tasks and ask questions and yearn to learn. Most days are fast paced and include personal customer AND industry contact through the phone, email, social media and face-to-face. In short, there is ALWAYS something to be accomplished or a project to start or an idea to pursue.
One look at our shop and you know you are in fly fishing heaven. A passion for fly fishing is mandatory. Our home waters include the large and small streams of NJ, PA and NY, the saltwater of the coast and the Delaware River system. Combined these are some of the most popular fisheries in the world. It is imperative to be knowledgeable about what all these waters offer in every season of the year. Our customers fish the Delaware River System and the entire world over. Therefore, we expect our employees to provide customers with the highest level of customer service, and most accurate information. Don’t be fooled, you’ll be astounded to see how many days involve species and flies and line set ups for fish other than trout!
If you are interested in working at Tight Lines, you must contact us by phone or email. Resume is helpful but not absolutely required. What is required is any information you think we should know about you, your experience and who you are. We expect to arrive at a schedule conducive to you and the needs of the shop. We offer a competitive salary, paid vacation and full employer paid health insurance. Opportunity to host shop trips is possible (conditions pending). Candidates of interest will be asked to come to Parsippany for an interview. Questions can be sent to [email protected] or 973-979-7600. All information is confidential.
