The instructors and their topics during the academy.

Students learn about the tackle and equipment associated with fly fishing and the knots needed to flyfish for trout.

Andrew Moy will demonstrate fly casting and talk about proper mechanics and how to execute a successful fly cast. Andrew will also talk about common mistakes and how to correct them. After a 30 minute demonstration the class will break up into groups of 4 students per instructor for the next hour. 

Jody Plonski will demonstrate and talk about fishing with streamers. He will talk about their uses and how to fish them.  He will also show various streamer fly patterns and discuss the best times to fish them. After a 30 minute demonstration the class will break up into groups of 4 students per instructor for the next hour. 

Break for a delicious lunch.  Great time to mingle with fellow students and ask the instructors questions. 

John Heaney will discuss fishing with nymphs and demonstrate various techniques for success. He will talk about fly patterns and how to select them.  John will also discuss leaders, rigging, reading water, entomology and more. After a 30 minute demonstration the class will break up into groups of 4 students per instructor for the next hour. 

John Endreson will demonstrate proper techniques for dry fly fishing. John will show setting up your angle to the fish, arializing line, reach mends, fly selection, fly floatants, fly patterns, and much more. After a 30 minute demonstration the class will break up into groups of 4 students per instructor for the next hour. 

We will briefly discuss what you've learned and give time for questions from students.
